Hallelujah! Express Entry cutoff drops to 423!

The Express Entry draw on April 13, 2017 further confirmed the recent trend towards lower cutoff scores. The main reason for the lower cutoff is the reduction of points for arranged employment which went into effect November 19, 2016. This reduction makes it easier for persons without job offers to qualify if they have high language test scores, along with strong educational credentials and work experience. The lower cutoff means that applicants from the United States, including H-1B visa workers and U.S. citizens, have a great opportunity to immigrate to Canada in as little as six months.

In addition, the number of ITAs issued in recent draws has increased greatly over previous draws. This is a result of several factors, including the completion of processing from the pre-Express Entry systems that existed before January 1, 2015. Due to the large number of ITAs issued, it is possible the cutoff may increase again, or even closed down completely for a period of time. We urge everyone interested in Express Entry to apply as soon as possible. If you have a college degree, several years of work experience, and good language ability in English or French, your changes of succeeding under Express Enter are very good.
