Nova Scotia Express Entry
The Canadian province of Nova Scotia has announced that two new Express Entry “streams” have been added to the provincial nomination program. These streams will both result in automatic Invitations to Apply under the Express Entry system.
The first steam is called “Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry.” To apply, applicants must have either a job offer from a Nova Scotia employer in a skilled occupation, or must have work experience in a list of “Opportunity Occupations.” The “Opportunity Occupation” stream is often unavailable due to the great demand. The second stream is called Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry. This stream requires one year of experience working in Nova Scotia in a skilled occupation.
All applicants must demonstrate an intention to settle in Nova Scotia. We strongly urge applicants to visit Nova Scotia and to investigate possible job opportunities. Nova Scotia is located in southeastern Canada. The capital city of Halifax is a modern, cosmopolitan city with a wide range of cultural, educational, and employment opportunities. Nova Scotians are renown for their friendliness, and willingness to help out a neighbor or co-worker.
Our Canadian office is located in Nova Scotia, and we have worked closely with the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program since it was first established. We have a track record of success with Nova Scotia cases, and we have a solid professional working relationship with the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration. If you are interested in re-locating to the province of Nova Scotia, we can help. Since we also practice U.S. immigration, we are particularly well suited to help H-1B workers immigrate to Canada.
Express Entry is not the only way to immigrate to Nova Scotia. Persons with a job offer in Nova Scotia may apply under the regular Nova Scotia skilled worker stream for persons with Nova Scotia job offers. The criteria for acceptable job offers under the regular program may be easier to meet for some persons than under the Express Entry program, including some lower skilled occupations. There are many opportunities for work in Nova Scotia, particularly in the IT field. Nova Scotia also offers two entrepreneur programs for persons who plan to invest in a business in Canada, as well as a specialized stream for physicians and an “invitation only” stream for persons with job skills that are vitally needed in Nova Scotia. Invitations under this stream have been issued to early childhood educators. Click here for more information on the Nova Scotia provincial nominee programs.
Finally, persons interested in immigration to Nova Scotia or the other three Atlantic provinces may take advantage of the new Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program. This program allows persons with job offers at all skill levels to apply for permanent residence, and also provides a one-year work permit while your application is being processed.
